According the book The Hamlyn Encyclopedia of Alternative Health, there are four stages of healing:
The first few treatments relieve pain, reduce tension and sedate stressed nerves. Plan to visit twice or more a week when we are working on a chronic condition.
Once the pain has been relieved, the therapist can work on the underlying cause to prevent the problem’s return. More frequent visits can decongest the lymph system and free scar tissue. Treatments can range from weekly or even more often while we work together to correct the function of your soft tissue.
This is an important step with badly damaged problem areas. Weakness at the injury site can mean recurring problems in the future. Treatments can strengthen the surrounding tissues enabling them to provide adequate support when the injury has healed.
This is the final stage of healing and the first step in preventative care. Apex recommends monthly massages to prevent any annoying health problems from becoming major health issues.
